We are happy to inform you that Francis Xavier Engineering College in association with POTHYS, Tirunelveli is conducting State Level Inter-School Cultural Competitions – “STAR KIDZ 2023” in the college premises on 21st January 2023.
 
This mega event is organized to create a strong platform to make the students bring out their innate talents. We believe that this initiative will go a long way in helping the students nurture creativity and innovate on their own to get them recognized for their creativity and inventiveness.
Hence, we would be pleased if you could consider this and motivate the students of your school to participate in this contest.

Events

Vegetable Carving

Instructions

1) Two members per Team & Category wise one team per school. (Totally 3 Teams)
2) Time Duration: 1 Hr
3) Participants must bring their required materials including vegetables.
4) Peeling/cutting of vegetables should be done only at the venue of the competition.


Rangoli

Instructions

1) Theme: “Peace is the way, Peace is the key, for a better world for you and me.”
2) Two members in a team &Category wise one team per school. (Totally 3 Teams)
3) Time duration one hour.
4) Colour  powders, saw dust, salt, glitters can be used.
5) Rangoli should be based only on the theme given.
6) Usage of Stickers, flowers and light is not allowed.


Essay Writing - English & Tamil

Instructions

1) Essay Should be Written in A 4 Sheet
2) Should not exceed 1000 Words
3) Writing material should be brought by the participants
4) Theme for category I, II: “Peace is the way, Peace is the key, for a better world for you and me.”
5) For Category III, the theme will be given 30 minutes before the commencement of the event.
6) Category wise One participant from a school (Tamil – 1 & English-1)
7) Time Duration  1  Hour


Just a minute

Instructions

1) Topic will be given 15 minutes before the commencement of the event.
2) A word should not be repeated more than three times.
3) Three participants from each school under category II & III
4) Time duration: 1 minute


Pot Painting

Instructions

1) Only two members can be in a team/ Category wise one team per school. (Totally 3 Teams)
2) Time duration for Pot Painting is only 60 minutes.
3) The theme for your painting is “Peace is the way, Peace is the key, for a better world for you and me.”
4) All your paintings should be done in the spot only.
5) The size and nature of the pot can be decided by the participants itself.
6)  All the materials required for the event should be brought by the respective team members.

Art from Waste

Instructions

1) Two participants per team & Category wise one team per school. (Totally 3 Teams)
2) Material should be brought by the participant
3)  Art should be made only from the waste materials
4) Time duration:1 hour


Drawing

Instructions

1) Category wise Two participants from a school – (Totally 6 participants)
2) The participants can use any type of paints.
3) Theme: “Peace is the way, Peace is the key, for a better world for you and me.”
4) Participants must bring their required materials
5) Time duration: 1 hour


Elocution - English & Tamil

Instructions

1) Category wise One participant from a school (Tamil – 1 & English-1)
2) 5 minutes will be given per participant to perform.
3) Theme “Peace is the way, Peace is the key, for a better world for you and me.”
4) For Category III, the theme will be given 30 minutes before the commencement of the event.


Solo Singing

Instructions

1) Karaoke should be brought in pen drive only. (Tracks cannot be played from mobile phones/CD)
2) Vulgarity in any form will not be entertained
3) Category wise Two participants from a school – (Totally 6 participants)
4) Time duration 3 minutes


Group Singing

Instructions


1) 4-6 members per team
2) Category wise ONE Team from a school

5) Lyrics should be decent


Solo Dance

Instructions

1) Time duration 5 minutes.
2) Song should be brought in pen drive only. (Songs cannot be played from mobile phones/CD)
3) Vulgarity in any form will not be entertained
4) Category wise Two Participants from a school


Instrumental Solo

Instructions

1) Time Duration: 3 mins
2) Instrument should be brought by the participant.
3) Instrument can be classical or Western or both
4)  Category wise Two Participants from a school
5) Exceeding the time limit shall lead to negative marking


Mime

Instructions

1)  Each team can have 6 members &Category wise One Team from a school
2) Maximum 5 minutes.
3) Negative points for exceeding time limit.
4) The act shall contain background music without lyrics.
5) The act should not contain any dialogues, lip sync.
6) No act shall contain any offensive, obscene, disrespectful actions or gestures. The act will be immediately stopped and the entry will be disqualified, if these instructions are not followed.
7) Points will be given on the basis of innovation, depiction of the situation, team work and expressions.


Group Dance

Instructions

1)  Only 7 members can be in a team & Category wise One Team from a school
2) Time duration 5 minutes.
3) Free Style of dance
4) Marks will be given based on selection of Songs, Property, Costume, Coordination, Expression, Style, Variety of steps & theme


Fashion Show

Instructions

1) Each team can have 6 members &Category wise ONE Team from a school
2) Theme selection is open. All the teams will have their own individual theme.
3) Time duration: 5 mins
4) Points will be deducted for exceeding the time limit.
5) Emphasis will be given to clothing, walking style, originality and attitude.
6) No props and costumes will be provided by us. Teams have to bring their own costumes and props.
7) Use of materials like candles, matches, cigarettes, alcohol and any other hazardous material on stage is prohibited.
8) Vulgarity of any kind would lead to disqualification of team from the event.
9) The decision of the judges and the organizing committee will be final and binding.
10) No make-up artist will be provided. Teams will have to arrange one for themselves.


Note:

1. The Events will be conducted and judged category wise. Each category will be awarded with winner and runner title.
          The following are the categories
         Category   I     -  Classes III to V
         Category   II    -  Classes VI to VIII
         Category  III    -  Classes IX to XII

2. A student can participate only in two events. (If a student participates in more than one event, it’s the sole responsibility of the school to ensure that there should not be any time clash between the events for the participants)
3. The students must be accompanied by members of the faculty from the respective schools.
4. Students must bring their ID cards.
5. Name list of the participants must be brought by the faculty duly signed by the Head of the Institution.
6. The participants are asked to report to the college at 8.30 am on 21.01.2023.
7. Lunch will be provided only to the participants and the staff-in-charge.
8. Please read instruction carefully before filling up the Google Sheet. Category/ Event wise List must be prepared by the participating schools and submitted through the Google Sheet on or before 18.1.2023.
9. The Google Sheet must be submitted by the school and not by the individual student/team.
10. No Registration Fee
11. The decision of the judges and the organizing committee will be final and binding.
