Francis Xavier Department of Management Studies (FXDoMS) organized a guest lecture on “Business Ethics: The Real Competitive Advantage” on 28.02.2026 at the MBA Seminar Hall for the I MBA students. The session was delivered by Mr. N. Kapil Subramanian, Entrepreneur and former Regional Sales Manager at Pantaloons. A total of 39 students attended the session. The objective of the lecture was to provide students with meaningful insights into the significance of ethics in business practices and professional decision-making.
During the session, the resource person emphasized that ethics represents “Character in Action,” underlining the importance of integrity and responsible conduct even in unsupervised situations and illustrated his points with real-world examples such as the corporate collapse of Satyam Computer Services, and the strong ethical governance practices of the TVS Group and the Tata Group. These examples effectively demonstrated the long-term impact of ethical and unethical business decisions.
The speaker further explained how ethical behavior serves as a real competitive advantage by attracting talented employees, reducing legal and reputational risks, lowering the cost of capital, and fostering long-term customer loyalty. He also discussed emerging ethical challenges in the digital era, including data privacy issues, AI manipulation, and authenticity concerns in influencer marketing. The lecture was highly informative and successfully bridged the gap between academic concepts and practical corporate realities. It encouraged students to cultivate ethical leadership values and uphold integrity in their future professional careers. The programme was coordinated by Dr. D. Hepzibah Vinsyah Jeyaseeli, AP/MBA under the guidance of Dr. D. Annie Rose Nirmala, Head/FXDoMS.
