On behalf of the Department of MCA, Mrs. D. Angeline Ranjithamani (AP & HOD/MCA) visited Industries at Chennai on 30th June 2025. The primary objective of the visit was to explore internship and placement opportunities for MCA students and to foster academic-industry collaboration. The visit began with a meeting with Ms. Jothi Joseph, Engineering Leader at Bacuti Technologies, Chennai. During the interaction, she assured her support in connecting MCA students with remote internship opportunities, with a potential for recruitment upon successful completion of the program. The expected annual compensation ranges between ₹5 LPA and ₹7 LPA. Ms. Jothi also expressed her willingness to collaborate with faculty members to enhance their industry knowledge, enabling them to train students in alignment with current industry expectations.

Next visit is to Expeditors, a global logistics and supply chain company with a strong presence in Chennai, employing over 300 professionals. The interaction highlighted the organization's employee-centric culture, where building long-term careers is given utmost priority.

Key discussion points included:

  • The importance of the right attitude backed by core skills such as C, C++, and Java.
  • Emphasis on a process-oriented approach with well-defined role attributes.
  • Genuineness and authenticity in resumes and interviews were encouraged, aligning actual skills with declared competencies.
  • Opportunities were highlighted for roles such as Associate Analyst, Developer, and Tester with an attractive package starting from ₹5.25 LPA + benefits.
  • Group Discussion (GD) rounds were noted as a filtering stage, where students often face challenges.
  • Ms. Ambika (Employee Relations) provided valuable insights into the company culture and recruitment expectations.
  • Overall, the visit reinforced the need for technical competence combined with a positive attitude and adaptability, positioning our students to align with industry standards and expectations.

The final visit of the day was to PreludeSys, Chennai, facilitated by our esteemed 2009 batch alumnus, Mr. Ragavan. The team had a fruitful discussion with Mr. Prasad, HR Manager, who provided valuable insights into current recruitment expectations and industry trends.

Key discussion points included:

  • The trainability of candidates, their speed of learning, and overall stability in roles.
  • Importance of effective communication skills, both verbal and written, as a key selection criterion.
  • Realistic salary expectations from fresh graduates and alignment with industry standards.
  • The possibility of considering off-campus placements for deserving candidates.
  • Internship opportunities for MCA students, to gain early exposure to industry workflows and expectations.
  • Fresher’s Salary ranges from ₹5LPA - ₹7LPA

The session was insightful and reaffirmed the value of industry-academia collaboration, especially with the strong support of our alumni network.
