As part of the Industrial Exposure Program, the MBA Operations students from the Department of Management Studies, Francis Xavier Engineering College, undertook an industrial visit to VOC Port and Dakshin Bharat Gateway Terminal Private Limited (DBGT), Tuticorin. The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to large-scale logistics and operations management in a real-time industrial environment.

During the visit, the students were given an in-depth orientation on port operations, cargo handling procedures, container management, and logistics coordination. Officials from VOC Port and DBGT elaborated on the various aspects of terminal operations, port infrastructure, safety standards, documentation, and digital monitoring systems that ensure smooth maritime trade operations. The students had the opportunity to observe the flow of goods through import and export channels, gaining valuable insights into supply chain integration, operational efficiency, and resource optimization. The experience helped bridge the gap between theoretical classroom learning and its application in a dynamic industrial setting, particularly in the fields of operations and logistics management.

The visit was coordinated by Dr. Annie Rose Nirmala, HOD/MBA and was supported by Ms. Agnes Sujitha, II MBA, and her parents, whose assistance greatly contributed to the smooth organization of the program. Overall, the industrial visit enriched the students’ understanding of real-world business operations and strengthened the industry–academia linkage, preparing them for future managerial roles in logistics and supply chain domains.
