Francis Xavier Department of Management Studies, in collaboration with the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), organized an expert talk on “AI and Human Capital: Opportunities, Challenges, and Ethics” on 29th January 2026 from 2.30 PM to 4.30 PM. The session was delivered by Dr. D. Hepzibah Vinsyah Jeyaseeli, AP/MBA who served as the Resource Person. The programme aimed to create awareness among students about the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence in managing and developing human capital in contemporary organizations. During the session, the resource person explained how AI is transforming key HR functions such as recruitment, training, performance evaluation, employee engagement, and managerial decision-making. The talk highlighted new opportunities offered by AI, including increased productivity, skill development, and data-driven workforce management. The speaker also discussed major challenges like workforce displacement, widening skill gaps, algorithmic bias, and concerns over data privacy. Special emphasis was placed on ethical aspects of AI adoption, including fairness, transparency, accountability, and responsible usage in people management. The session stressed the importance of upskilling, reskilling, and lifelong learning to ensure sustainable human capital development in an AI-driven economy. An interactive discussion encouraged students to think critically about balancing technological progress with ethical responsibility. Overall, the programme was highly informative and helped participants gain a broader understanding of how AI can be effectively and ethically integrated into organizational practices.
