Today November 8th 2021 is observed as World Radiology Day to commemorate the anniversary of the discovery of X-Rays by Wilhelm Roentgen, organized by the International society of Radiographers and Radiological Technologists(ISSRT). The Aim of World Radiography Day is to increase awareness of X-Ray imaging and therapy, which play a critical role in patient diagnosis and treatment.
The First World Radiography Day was celebrated in the year 2012. Society of Radiology (ESR), the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), and the American College of Radiology (ACR) joined forces to organize World Radiology Day activities. Since then, the entire globe has been observing the day with immense anticipation. Medical centres and institutes from all around the world engage in raising awareness about the day at the local, national, and international levels.
World Radiography Day aims to raise awareness about the way radiology contributes to patient care and understanding the role that radiologists and radiological technologists play in healthcare. X-Rays,MRI Scans etc. help in finding health-related problems by providing image.
The Theme for the International Day of Radiology this year is Intervational Radiology – Active care for the patient . The theme aims at inviting everyone to celebrate the essential role that interventional radiology plays in treating patients.
