World Food Day is celebrated all over the world every year on October 16. This day is commemorated for the founding of Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in 1945. Food Day is celebrated to appreciate and praise the amazing food we eat, but also to tackle the world hunger.
World Food Day was established in November 1979 by considering the suggestion of Hungarian Minister of Agriculture and food Dr Pal Romany. Then its is celebrated every year to raise awareness about hunger, food production and malnutrition.This global event marks collective action to overcome the issue of hunger and ensure the healthy diets.
On this special occasion, the authorities bring up with for a new theme every year, which involves the special revolving around the agriculture, food and investments to increase production of food products. While last year, theme was
“Grow, nourish, sustain, Together. Our actions are our future” The theme this year is “Safe food now for a healthy tomorrow”
This theme has to be observed deeply as it has a significant message in it.
Millions of people around the world will celebrate this creative and wonderful occasion by gathering at marathons, exhibitions, concerts and marches. More than a casual series of festivals, World Food Day is organized to awake the awareness to related to changing planet affects food production and distribution. The major goal of this event is to set goals that will eventually lead to building a zero hunger generation.
It is observed to tackle the global hunger crisis and to make strong the message that food is fundamental and basic human right for all the people in this world. Various awareness campaigns are also organized on this day to educate people about obesity, malnutrition, poverty, which cause serious health complications. In short it is celebrated to raise awareness of issues behind poverty and hunger and ensure the need for food security and nutritious diets for all human beings.
World Food day is a special global action to strengthen international and national power solidarity in the fight to end poverty, hunger and malnutrition to make all people in equal status. World Food Day 2021 marks the 76th anniversary of the Food and Agriculture Organization. And this day has to be celebrated and maintained in the upcoming years to lead and a better and healthy society.
