Francis Xavier Engineering College Students Win the First Prize in Smart India Hackathon 2022 Held at Pandit Deendayal Energy University

Francis Xavier Engineering College (Autonomous) has been in the forefront in creating next-gen engineering professionals with in-demand professional skills through the well established 20 Industrial Applied Labs.
In the Smart India Hackathon 2022 organized by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC) two teams from FXEC participated - one team from the Data Science Applied Lab and another team from Architecture and Design Applied Lab. Both the teams were selected for the grand finale organized at Pandit Deendayal Energy University and Gujarat Technological University.
The members of the Data Science Applied Lab - Dharshini. M III CSE, Mari Selvam K II AI&DS, Gladston Akash Raja T A II AI&DS, Kaladevi. G. B and Niveditha. J of III IT mentored by Dr. Anita, Head, Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science presented the project for the problem statement No. SS588 - “Heritage Identification of Monuments using Deep Learning Techniques”.
The members of the Architecture and Design Applied Lab P. Karthick Raja, P.Ronaldo Sam, P. Suresh Raj, S.Manju of IV Civil and P.Manoj Kishor and S.Jemima Giftaof III Civil mentored by Prof. Sumil Kumaran, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering presented the project for the problem statement No. GS 909 - “High Resolution 3D Terrain and Infrastructure, Road Travel Condition in Disaster Struck Areas” and won the first prize with the cash award of Rs 1,00,000 (1 Lakh).
Dr. Cletus Babu, Chairman, SCAD Group of Institutions, Mr. Arun Babu, Managing Director, SCAD Group of Institutions, Dr. K. Jeyakumar, General Manager (Development), Mr. Krishnakumar, General Manager (Administration) and Dr. V. Velmurugan, Principal congratulated the winners. The teams were given technical inputs by Dr. Lourdez Poobala Rayen, Professor EDC and Prof. Ayyanar Raja, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering.
