Industrial Visit to V.O.C Port Trust

On 03rd February 2023, an Industrial visit was organized to II year Civil Engineering students to V.O.C Port Trust, Tuticorin to learn "Underwater construction techniques" by the department of Civil Engineering under the activity code ACT/22-23/01092. A total of 60 II year Civil Engineering students went to IV. The industrial visit was organized by Mrs. P. Raja Priya, AP/CIVIL. Students saw first-hand on-site of underwater structures being built and their pros and cons. This industrial visit was very useful to the students. Further, the government official of V.O. Chidambaranar Port trust explained in detail the construction activities of underwater construction and the students understood the following in detail such as the challenges involved in building underwater, which materials are best suited to underwater buildings, what techniques are used in underwater construction, several examples of underwater structures, ideas about the future of underwater cities. A seminar was also presented by the government officials and students learned the challenges in underwater construction through the presentation.
