On 28.02.2023 a session on "A One Day Workshop on Importance of Goal Setting for Emerging Young Entrepreneurs" was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of MBA. The session was handled by Dr.Rajavalli Rajiv, Social Entrepreneur, Virudhunagar. 58 students from first year MBA and 1 faculty of MBA department participated in the program. The program was coordinated by Mr. P. Selvakumar, EDC Coordinator, Assistant professor - MBA, Francis Xavier Engineering College from 9.30AM - 04.00 PM.
The guest speaker in her speech explained the concept of entrepreneurship and why the management students must opt for entrepreneurship. She gave lot of examples from the Indian entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs excelling in Tamil Nadu. While stressing the students the importance of becoming an entrepreneur, she highlighted the conducive environment and the funding support of provided by the government to develop startups. She also highlighted the opportunities which are open to the students. She asked the students to identify the right opportunities to become a startup founder. While explaining the skills and qualities required for the entrepreneurs, she stressed the students to set the goals properly. The guest speaker explained the importance of goal setting for an entrepreneur in the present day situation.
In her speech she emphasized that, once you have your goals articulated, take some time to turn them into a creative and artistic visual. This activates a different part of your brain, and as it will be wildly different to your working style, will help cement your goals in your mind. The creative process will also help you see in terms of what is possible and not get stuck in rational thinking. Paper activity was done by the students which was more interesting and kept them innovative. The speaker gave her views on how to aim high with her motivating speech. Hands on practice were given throughout the day and that facilitated the students to have a better idea about goal setting. Students gave their feedback at the end of the session.
