On 30th July 2024, Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with Department of Civil Engineering organized “A session on Angel Investment for Early-Stage Entrepreneurs”. The resource person for the program was Mr. A. Sumil Kumaran, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Francis Xavier Engineering College, Tirunelveli. 42 Civil Engineering students attended the program. The session was coordinated by Mrs. P. Raja Priya, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, FXEC.

The resource person explained the main objectives of an Angel Investment for Early-Stage Entrepreneurs. He said Angel Investors are one of the easiest sources of finance for new entrepreneurs. Angels are unsung heroes of emerging company successes. There are individuals who stand on the sidelines coaching the entrepreneurial team, offering advice, support and finance to help the new firm survive the turbulent months and years that it takes to reach critical mass, profitability and sustainability. They are more focused on commitment and passion of the founders. They make prominent difference between starts ups success and failures.

He also explained that angel investors often gain early access to high-quality early-stage companies, offering a competitive edge in identifying promising opportunities. This privilege stems from the inherent risk in angel investments, making it an attractive avenue for those seeking higher returns compared to traditional options. Early investors often benefit from discounted rates, enhancing investment potential and opening doors for profitable deals. Finally, he explained about how the angel investment can be used for mobilising necessary funds especially during the early stage of entrepreneurship.
