An Engineers Choice to Scale New Heights

On 13th June 2023, Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with Department of Civil Engineering organized a session on “Startup: An Engineers Choice to Scale New Heights”. The resource person for the program was Mr. R.G. Reen Gino, Proprietor, R Green Construction Company, Kavalsthalam, Kulasekaram. 32 students of I year Civil Engineering, 10, IV year Civil Engineering and 1 faculty member participated in the program. The session was coordinated by Mrs. P. Raja Priya, Assistant Professor, Department of civil engineering, FXEC.

The resource person stated that start up involves ideation, screening, concept definition, risk assessment and financing. He also stated that for civil engineers entrepreneurship would be the best choice compared to becoming an employee in the concern. Moreover, he is an innovative and independent leader. The resource person explained the need for entrepreneurship in the present scenario and highlighted the emerging opportunities in entrepreneurship by giving lot of examples. He also shared the top 10 civil engineering business ideas for start-ups like interior designing, estimation and valuation, plan and elevation bricks and block manufacturing, building materials supply, painting and carpentry services, electrical and plumbing services and property developers. The resource person also showcased the pictures of the services done by his own concern. The students raised many questions and it was answered by the resource person. The session was an eye opening one for most of the participants and the students were enlightened with the opportunities in civil engineering sector.
