On 15th Sep. 2023 a session on “Be an Entrepreneur to Scale New Heights” was organized by the PG & Research Department of Commerce, St.Xavier’s College, Palayamkottai, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. Dr.Lourdes Poobala Rayen, Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship Development and President, Institution’s Innovation Council and the Innovation Ambassador for Innovation and Incubation Management. 45 B.Com final year and 25 final year M.Com students attended the program.
The resource person explained the concept of entrepreneurship and the importance of entrepreneurship in the economic development. While explaining the concept of entrepreneurship and its importance to the country, he gave examples of Indian entrepreneurs and their contributions to the economic growth. During the discussion the resource person highlighted the business opportunities which are available in the social domine using the local resources. He explained the value-added products which can be produced using the vegetables and fruits. He also mentioned about the PMFME scheme which provides funding support to startups with subsidy. The guest speaker also explained the concept of earn while learn and how the students can start earning while learning. He highlighted some of the avenues for earning while learning.
