A session on “Building My Own Path: The Motivation to Become an Entrepreneur” was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and the Institution’s Innovation Council in association with the Department of Mechanical Engineering on October 07, 2024, from 12:30 PM to 4:30 PM. The session was handled by Dr. S. Sheik Sulaiman, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering at Francis Xavier Engineering College, Tirunelveli. 51 students and 1 faculty member participated in the program, Dr. K. Vinukumar, AP/MECH, coordinated the session.

The resource person explained the role of entrepreneurs and the advantages of the entrepreneurs to enhance the economic condition of the people. The guest speaker said that entrepreneurship is about creating innovative solutions to real social problems and having the freedom to develop entrepreneurship. He emphasized that an entrepreneur is someone who identifies opportunities, takes risks, and builds ventures that create value. Starting a startup is about turning a vision into reality, using creativity, problem-solving, and resilience to solve challenges and make an impact.

Now a days there is a change in the mindset of the students and are involved in earning income through the income generating ventures. The same situation prevails across the globe for example, in China, entrepreneurs focusing on manufacturing and developing innovating toys, while countries like United States are concentrating in tech startups, India addresses healthcare and education challenges, and Germany excels in engineering and manufacturing sectors.

Students found this session extremely valuable and encouraging. They have gained knowledge and gathered lot of information about entrepreneurship. At the end of the session students gave their feedback about the session and expressed their satisfaction to pursue their goals with renewed enthusiasm. The session concluded with a Q&A segment, where clear and helpful answers were provided to the participants by the resource person.
