On 06.12.2024 a session on “Communication in Entrepreneurship: Driving Innovation and Growth” was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. This session was handled by Ms. M. Keerthana, Assistant Professor, Department of English, FXEC. Fifty five students from first year CSE C participated in the program. The program was coordinated by Ms. M. Keerthana, Assistant Professor, Department of English, CSE from 9.30 AM – 12.00 PM.
The program started with the introduction of the guest speaker. During this session, the resource person shared valuable insights into how clear communication is key for entrepreneurs to shape their vision, inspire their teams, and lead their businesses to success. The speaker emphasized that entrepreneurs need to be able to share their ideas effectively with investors, employees, and customers to build trust, create strong relationships, and encourage teamwork. Effective communication helps entrepreneurs attract funding, solve problems, and lead their businesses through changes.
The speaker also highlighted the role of communication using examples of successful entrepreneurs like Howard Schultz, founder of Starbucks, and Mark Zuckerberg, co-founder of Facebook. Schultz communicated his idea of creating a "third place" for people, other than home or work, which helped transform Starbucks into a global brand. His ability to connect with his team and customers played a big part in Starbucks' success. Similarly, Zuckerberg’s communication with his team was key to Facebook’s growth from a college project to a global platform. His open and honest communication encouraged innovation and helped Facebook grow and adapt over time.
In conclusion, the seminar reinforced that communication is at the heart of entrepreneurship. It’s essential not only for building strong teams and relationships but also for encouraging innovation and solving business problems. The examples of Schultz and Zuckerberg showed how effective communication can drive the success and growth of a business. Through this program, participants showed keen interest in the concepts, methodologies and gave satisfactory feedback at the end of the session.
