Discussion on problem solving and ideation

On 16.11.2023 a session on “Discussion on Problem Solving and Ideation ” was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of AI&DS. The session was handled by Mrs.S.Poornam,AP/AI&DS, Francis Xavier Engineering College. 60 students from first year AI&DS and 1 faculty of AI&DS department participated in the program. The program was coordinated by Mrs P.Sooriabrabha, Assistant professor,Department of AI&DS from 1.30PM –4PM.

The program started with the introduction of guest speaker Mrs.S.Poornam AP/AI&DS, FrancisXavier Engineering College by Mrs. P.Sooriabrabha Assistant professor Department of AI&DS . The resource person said that the problem solving and ideation are integral aspects of decision-making, innovation, and progress in any organization or individual endeavour. The speaker addressed the fundamental concepts and strategies associated with problem solving and ideation, highlighting their role in addressing challenges, generating innovative solutions, and driving continuous improvement. A crucial first step in problem solving is clearly defining the issue at hand. This involves identifying the root cause, understanding its implications, and establishing measurable objectives for resolution.

The resource person said that the effective problem solving requires the application of critical thinking skills. This involves analyzing information, considering alternative perspectives, and making informed decisions based on evidence and logic. A well-established technique, brainstorming encourages the generation of a multitude of ideas in a collaborative setting. This technique facilitates the exploration of relationships and associations between different elements. Effective problem solving and ideation are vital skills for individuals and organizations seeking to navigate an ever-evolving landscape. The participants interacted with the guest speaker and clarified their doubts.
