On October 20, 2023, a Guest Lecture on "Discussion on Startup Opportunities" was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) and the Industry-Institute Collaboration (IIC) in association with the Department of Master of Computer Application (MCA). The session was conducted by Ms. M. Dharshini, a fourth-year student pursuing Computer Science at Francis Xavier Engineering College, Tirunelveli. Ms. Dharshini is also the founder of a startup. The event took place from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM and was attended by 55 students and 2 faculty members. Mrs. M.K. Subbulakshmi, an Assistant Professor in the Electronics and Communication Engineering department, coordinated the event. The program was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Lourdes Poobala Rayen, the Director of the Entrepreneurship Development Cell.

The event began with an introduction of the expert member, Ms. M. Dharshini, by Mrs. M.K. Subbulakshmi, who is also associated with the MCA department. The expert member initiated the session by highlighting the importance of the Entrepreneurship Development Cell in fostering entrepreneurial skills.

Ms. M. Dharshini, the guest speaker, started her speech by addressing the fundamental aspects of student entrepreneurship. She shared insights into her own company's product and explained how to generate and develop ideas for active engagement in the entrepreneurial process. During her presentation, Ms. Dharshini provided numerous examples to underscore the significance of asking questions and being inquisitive in the context of entrepreneurship.

The guest speaker guided students on how to generate innovative business ideas, emphasizing the importance of identifying unmet needs, market gaps, and emerging trends as sources of inspiration for entrepreneurial ventures. She also delved into the challenges that entrepreneurs inevitably face and discussed effective problem-solving strategies to overcome obstacles encountered on the entrepreneurial journey. Additionally, Ms. Dharshini provided information about government entrepreneurship loan policies.

Ms. M. Dharshini concluded her presentation by sharing valuable insights into business development. She highlighted various strategies for scaling and growing a business, emphasizing adaptability and the need for continuous improvement. The guest speaker's presentation provided students with valuable insights into the world of entrepreneurship. The key takeaways included the importance of asking questions, distinguishing between entrepreneurship and traditional employment, idea generation, effective problem-solving, and strategies for business development
