Empowering Future Management Graduates towards Startups

On 25.07.2023 Guest Lecture on "Empowering Future Management Graduates towards Startups" was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell of Management Studies department and IIC through offline mode. The session was handled by Mrs. S.A.Rahmath Ameena Begum, Head, Department of Business Administration of Wavoo Wajeeha Women’s College of Arts & Science, Kayalpattinam,Thoothukudi District from 09.30 AM- 12.30 PM on 25.7.023. 42students and one faculty participated in the program.

The program started with the welcome address by Mr.Sabari Arumugam, student of II MBA, Francis Xavier Engineering College. Followed by Dr.V.M.Sangeetha, EDC coordinator of Management Studies introduced the chief guest.

The resource person started the session with posting four questions and those questions were What is startup?, Why to have startup?, How to make startup?, When to start a startup?. After receiving answers from the students, she started telling about startup. She highlighted few Indian startups such as Zomato, Nykaa, Flipkart,Byjus, Policybazaar, Delhivery and its successful stories through case study. She further moved the session by presenting about various funding options for startups. She highlighted Bootstrapping, Angel investors, Crowd Funding, Incubators, Accelerators, Bank Loan, Government Schemes. To keep the rapport, she conducted memory test with the list of Schemes in India. She continued her session with elaborating Startup India scheme, Tamil Nadu Startup Seed Fund, Incubation Forum – Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute, Innovation Voucher Programme, Hackathon, AADUKALAM- Startup TN initiative.

She explained the eligibility of these funding and also funding support from government. She explained the initiatives of Killikulam Agribusiness and Marine Products Business Incubation Forum, Thoothukudi in uplifting entrepreneurial skills among students. She encouraged the students to participate in Hackathon. Finally she listed various domains where students can think of their startup opportunities such as Food Business, Social Media, E-Commerce and Basics. She concluded her session with the Quote, “ Transform Your Passion to Profession”. The programme was ended with students feedback and Vote of thanks.
