On 16.12.2022 Entrepreneur Development cell and IIC in association with Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized an expert talk on "Energy Conservation Through Effective Energy Utilization" as a part of National Energy Conservation Day from 2.00- 4.00 p.m. Mr.E.Petchimuthu. Assistant Executive Engineer., Safety, Tirunelveli Region has delivered the lecture. The program was coordinated by Mrs. A.Amala Manuela, EDC Coordinator, AP/EEE. 55 students and 1 staff member participated in the program.

The resource person explained about the need for energy conservation and the methods to be practiced for the energy conservation. As the natural resources are limited it should be used wisely. Over exploitation of natural resources for the generation of energy will also create environmental problem and it should be used with at most care. Moreover, the new renewable sources of energy should be explored. By doing this the pollution can be minimized and the natural disasters can also be reduced. The resource person also said that through the use of energy saving machines, the usage of energy can be reduced. As the individuals, corporates, business establishments and governments are the direct consumers of energy, they need to identify the ways and means of reducing the use of energy. The speaker gave lot of live examples such as walking or riding a bicycle instead of driving a car, using the LED bulbs which uses lesser electricity, drying the cloths rather than using the dryer, using thermostat to regulate the temperature automatically, using electrical devices which consumes lesser electricity. The participants also shared their ideas to conserve energy. The session was an interactive session and all the students participated in the session enthusiastically.
