On 14.12.2023 a National Energy Conservation Day Celebration Day Activity "Energy Conservation to Achieve Sustainable Energy Usage" was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The session was handled by Dr. A. Selvin Samual, District Environmental Awareness Coordinator, National Green Corps Programme, Department of Environment and climate change, Government of Tamil Nadu, Tirunelveli from 1.30 PM – 4.30 PM. 47 students and 2 faculties participated. This event was coordinated by Mrs. M. Mary Sumitha AP/EEE.

The program started with the welcome address by Dr. A. Ravi, HoD, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Francis Xavier Engineering College. Mrs. R. Aandal, Assistant professor, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, FXEC introduced the resource person.

The guest speaker started the speech by explaining the need for conserving energy and the steps to be taken to reduce the energy consumption. He also underlined the need to conserve the natural resources at the time of generating the energy by using the natural resources depletion. He gave few examples for the generation of electricity using the green energy resources like solar power. He spoke about the urgent need for clean energy, reducing the environmental pollution, global warming and climate change. He emphasised the need to sustain the energy resources at the time of scaling up the developmental activities of a nation. He also described sustainable energy generation technologies and cost benefit associated with the conservation. The participants raised few questions which were explained by the resource person with suitable examples. The interaction between the participants and the resource person was encouraging and participants benefited a lot.
