Enhancing Incubation Opportunities for Early-Stage Student Entrepreneurs

On 25th July, 2024 a session on “Enhancing Incubation Opportunities for Early-Stage Student Entrepreneurs” was organized by Entrepreneurship Development Cell & Institution’s Innovation Council in association with the Department of Mechanical Engineering at 01:20 pm to 4.20 pm. The session was handled by Dr.S.M.Rajkumar Associate Professor Department of Mechanical, Francis Xavier Engineering College, Tirunelveli. 69 students and two faculties participated in the program. The program was held via offline mode. Dr.K.Vinukumar, AP/MECH coordinated the session.

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) in India oversees the classification of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), which are categorized based on their investment and annual turnover. Startups must meet specific criteria to qualify for government benefits. Incubation centers, such as those at IIT Madras and Anna University, offers essential resources and support for startups, including office space and mentoring. Venture Capital Assistance provides interest-free loans from the Small Farmers' Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC) to address capital shortfalls in projects. Various government schemes also support sectors like infrastructure, food processing, and technology, offering financial aid and incentives for development and innovation
