On 8.10.2024 a talk on "Entrepreneurial Opportunities for Electrical Engineers" was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The session was handled by Mr. S. Selvakumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Francis Xavier Engineering College from 01.30 PM – 4.30 PM. 50 students and 2 faculties participated. This event was coordinated by Mrs. M. Mary Sumitha AP/EEE. This event was conducted with the guidance of Dr. Lourdes Poobala Rayen, EDC Director.
The program started with the welcome address by Mrs. M. Mary Sumitha, Assistant Professor, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Francis Xavier Engineering College. she introduced the guest speaker. The resource person, elaborated on the need for entrepreneurship and innovation, highlighting the key characteristics of successful entrepreneurs, global entrepreneurship trends, challenges faced by entrepreneurs, qualities of an entrepreneurial mindset, and insights into the future of entrepreneurship. During the session, he provided valuable insights into the benefits of pursuing an engineering career, the marvels of electrical engineering, and the present scenario in the field. He encouraged students to turn their ideas into viable and sustainable businesses.
He explored various entrepreneurial opportunities for electrical engineers, such as solar panel installation and maintenance, energy auditing, electric vehicle charging station infrastructure, and renewable energy consulting. Additionally, he offered detailed guidance on setting up an LED manufacturing unit and how to tap the markets like renewable energy and smart home technology.
In conclusion, the speaker provided practical advice on identifying problems, designing solutions, and protecting ideas. The session greatly benefited young innovators planning to start their businesses, taking their motivation to new heights. Participants engaged with thought-provoking questions, further deepening their understanding and enthusiasm.
