Entrepreneurial Opportunities in Green Building Technologies

On 13th June 2022 a seminar was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and Institution’s Innovation Council in association with Civil Engineering Department of Francis Xavier Engineering College (Autonomous), Tirunelveli. The topic of the seminar was “Entrepreneurial opportunities in Green building Technologies”. The resource person was Mr.A.Sumil Kumaran, Assistant Professor in Department of Civil Engineering Francis Xavier Engineering Tirunelveli. The resource person explained the need to give priority to eco-friendly technologies while developing the products. He also said that the engineering students must innovate new eco-friendly building materials which can replace the existing building materials. The resource person also gave few examples to the participants to understand the concept and the need for the same.

The resource person gave examples for the 7 best eco friendly materials for building

• Recycled Steel Utilises steel already in existence for structural use in a home
• Bamboo. Bamboo is increasing in popularity as a building material.
• Sheep's Wool, Straw Bales, Precast Concrete, Earth Plant-Based Polyurethane Rigid Foam.

This program was conducted through offline mode for the III year EEE students and coordinated by Ms.M.Krithika AP/EEE and Mr.N.V.Selvam, AP/EEE. Dr.J.Jasper Gnana Chandran, HOD/EEE was the Convener for the event.

We have received good feedback from the participants about the Guest Lecture program and also all participants benefited through this program. 41 students and 2 faculty members participated in the program.
