On 4.10.2023 Orientation on “Entrepreneurship: A Step Forward” was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell of Management Studies department and IIC through offline mode. The session was handled by Dr.V.M.Sangeetha, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Studies, Francis Xavier Engineering College, Vannarpettai from 01.30 PM- 3.30 PM. 120 students and one faculty participated.
The program started with the welcome address by Mr.P.Selvakumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Studies, Francis Xavier Engineering College. He gave the brief introduction about the resource person and the importance and initiatives of EDC cell in developing young minds in the entrepreneurial way. The resource person started her session by stating that Entrepreneurship plays a pivotal role in driving economic growth, fostering innovation, and creating job opportunities. She continued her presentation by sharing the success stories of few Indian entrepreneurs who are the pioneers of the respective domains. Then she moved the session by asking the question “why people become entrepreneurs?”. Students gave some interesting answers. By acknowledging the answers, she started explaining that entrepreneurs are key contributors to job creation. Startups and small businesses, which often stem from entrepreneurial endeavors, account for a substantial portion of global employment. They create job opportunities that are vital for reducing unemployment rates and improving the overall well-being of a society.
She continued her speech, by explaining that entrepreneurship empowers individuals to generate income independently. This can lead to increased social mobility and reduced income inequality as people from various backgrounds have the opportunity to create their own businesses. The students were given information about the funding options, such as venture capital, angel investors, and crowdfunding, to help entrepreneurs secure the necessary funding for their ventures. The session gave enriching insight about entrepreneurship and all the participants benefitted by the program.
