On 6th October 2023, Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with Department of Civil Engineering organized a Workshop on “Entrepreneurship and Innovation: A Way Forward for the Engineering Graduates”. The resource person for the program was Mrs. P. Raja Priya, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Francis Xavier Engineering, Tirunelveli. 178 first year civil, IT, EEE and mechanical students participated in the program. The session was coordinated by Dr. M. Renisha, Assistant Professor, Department of civil engineering, FXEC.
The resource person stated that “Entrepreneurial learning, or the acquisition of entrepreneurial skills, in engineering at the college level has become an important topic”. The society needs engineers who are prepared to adapt to changing market conditions and enhance innovations that offer new value to customers and society as a whole. The speaker emphasized that an entrepreneurial mind set, knowledge, skills, and attitudes are closely related to innovation and creativity that are essential to prepare students for a successful professional life. /p>
She also stated that for engineering graduate, entrepreneurship would be the best career choice. In support of this she gave lot of examples of Indian successful entrepreneurs. He requested the participants to read the success story of the leading entrepreneurs. The resource person explained the need for innovation in the present scenario and highlighted the emerging opportunities in entrepreneurship by giving lot of practical examples. She also shared the path way to achieve the key parameters of innovation through problem statement, Ideate, Prototype and Test through number of practical examples. The session was very useful and the participants gained lot of information from the resource person.
