Expert Talk on Business Opportunities for Budding Engineers

On 11th July, 2023 an “Expert Talk on Business Opportunities for Budding Engineers” was organized by Entrepreneurship Development Cell & Institution’s Innovation Council at 09:30 pm to 12.30 pm. Dr.R.K.A.Bhalaji, Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering department, Francis Xavier Engineering College, Tirunelveli was the resource person. 117 students and 1 staff member participated in the program. Mr.Shirly Myrtle R, AP/IT coordinated the program.

The resource person explained the various business opportunities in the social domine. He requested the participants to list 10 problems faced in the day-to-day life and to give a solution for the same. Interestingly students wrote number of problems and some participants openly discussed those problems in front of all the participants. Then the resource person guided all the participants to give a solution. Few solutions were discussed in the same session and all the participants refelected on it and gave their opinion also. The resource person discussed about major points related to identification of business opportunities such as identifying market gaps, technology & innovation, product development & prototyping, collaboration & partnerships, funding & financial management and intellectual property protection.

Additionally, he told more ideas to students for creating the business opportunities using bamboo fiber, pirandai plant, banana pseudostem and sea grass fiber. Next he shown the video about e-commerce business opportunities which can be used for the students to understand about the business in e-commerce as per recent trends. The session was useful and interactive one. Participants gained more information from the resource person.
