Expert Talk on Business Opportunities in Millet Processing and Marketing

On 03-11-22 Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of Master of Business Administration organized an expert talk on “BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES IN MILLET PROCESSING AND MARKETING”. The session was handled by Mr.P.Selvakumar, Assistant Professor, MBA Department, Francis Xavier Engineering College from 9.00AM – 11.00 AM. 58 students and 1 staff member participated in the program.

The resource person pointed out the growing concern about the malnutrition and steps to be taken to mitigate this problem by creating awareness about the benefits of millet. He mainly focused on the changing behavior of food habits and the increased use of fast food as the daily routine. He added that the millets have the potential to ensure nutritional value and these are much better than the conventional cereals in terms of many nutritional attributes. Now a days there is change in the mindset of people and people started using the millets knowing the benefits of millet. Because of this change in the mindset the need for millet is also growing and people started exploring the business opportunities. The resource person gave lot of examples of business opportunities available to start the concern. Though the topic is a common topic and more related to food students also shared their opinion about millet-based food and the practice in their house. The session was informative and thought provoking and benefitted all the students and staff and the session ended with positive feedbacks from audience.
