On 30th August 2024, Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with Department of Civil Engineering organized “Expert Talk on Converting Civil Engineering Innovations into Startup”. The resource person for the program was Mr.S.Vivek, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Francis Xavier Engineering College, Tirunelveli.

41 civil engineering students and 1 staff attended the program. The session was coordinated by Mrs. P. Raja Priya, Assistant Professor, Department of civil engineering, FXEC. The resource person explained the Civil Engineering Innovations focusing on cutting-edge technologies like U-boot technology, prefabrication structures, and self-healing concrete. He began by defining the key concepts crucial to understanding these innovations and their potential to transform the industry. His explanation laid a strong foundation for grasping the significance and practical applications of these technologies in modern civil engineering.

He also highlighted the strategies of converting Civil Engineering Innovation into a viable startup. His discussion also covered the intricacies of turning innovative ideas into tangible business opportunities, offering a roadmap for aspiring entrepreneurs in the civil engineering sector. He cited number of examples for the conversion of innovative ideas into startups. Lastly, the resource person provided valuable insights into conducting a market study and securing investment. He explained the different avenues available, such as angel investment, banking, and how these can be leveraged to finance a startup. His comprehensive approach not only highlighted the challenges but also provided practical solutions for overcoming financial barriers, empowering participants to take their innovative ideas to the next level. The students asked many questions and it was answered by the resource person. The participants gave the positive feedback on the session at the end of the session. The interaction helped the participants to gain more knowledge and insights regarding converting the innovations into startup.
