Expert Talk on Garbage Bank: A New Dimension in Waste Management

On 19th September 2022 Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of Master of Business Administration organized an expert talk on “Garbage Bank: A New Dimension in Waste Management” at MBA Department Seminar Hall. The session was handled by Mrs.Rajavalli Rajiv, Social Entrepreneur, Virudhunagar from 9.30AM – 12.30 PM.

The speaker gave a brief introduction about Social Entrepreneurship, the nature of social entrepreneur’s work and the services provided to the society. She stated that Tamilnadu has huge business potentials in the areas of waste recycling and management of waste. In her address she highlighted how she started her garbage bank, six years back with the realization that mixed garbage is a huge environmental issue that should be solved at the grassroots level by creating awareness about segregation of waste. This was the foundation for the creation of Garbage Bank.

She emphasized the importance of leadership in Social entrepreneurship and she suggested the participants to become entrepreneurs rather than working under someone. She motivated the students by saying that the drives and the thirst helps to achieving the dreams come true. Also, she added that patience is the important quality for an entrepreneur to be successful in business. The session was very much informative and thought provoking and benefitted to all the students and staff. The session ended with positive feedbacks from audience. 120 students and 6 staff members participated in the program.
