On 24th March, 2023 an “Expert Talk on Institutional & Financial Support to Micro Entrepreneurs” was organized by Entrepreneurship Development Cell & Institution’s Innovation Council in association with the Department of Mechanical Engineering from 09:30 am to 12.30 pm. Dr.R.K.A.Bhalaji, AP/Mech, Francis Xavier Engineering College, Tirunelveli was the resource person. 40 students and 1 staff member participated in the program. Dr.S.Balakrishnan, AP/Mech inaugurated the session with welcome address.
The resource person discussed about the importance of Micro Entrepreneurs and the various funding opportunities provided by the central and state government to develop entrepreneurship activities. He highlighted the central government institutes which provides support for the promotion of entrepreneurship such as Small Scale Industries Board (SSIB), National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Small Industries Development Organization (SIDO), National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) and Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI). Next he also explained about the state government institutes such as State Financial Corporations (SFC), Technical Consultancy Organization, Khadi & Village Industries board (KVIB).
He also listed the financial institutions providing financial support to promote and develop small scale industries & entrepreneurs. For instance, financial institutes are IDBI, IFCI, SSIC, RRBs, SFCs, SIDCs, co-operative and gramin banks. In addition to this he mentioned the support provided to promote innovation & entrepreneurship provided by government of India such as startup India, Make in India, Digital India, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana etc. All the participants expressed their satisfaction and gained a lot through the program.
