On 25th Nov. 2022 Entrepreneur Development cell and IIC in association with Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Organized an “Expert talk on IPR related to Trade Marks” at 2.00 4.00 p.m. Dr. A.Justin Diravium, Professor and HoD, Department of EEE, FXEC was the guest speaker. 47 students and 1 staff participated in the program. Mrs.Amala Manuela, EDC Coordinator, AP, EEE coordinated the program.

The resource person explained about the Intellectual Property Rights and the different types of IPR. While explaining the trademark, the resource person explained the importance of trade marks and how it protects the rights of the trade mark users. The resource person said that a trademark can be a name, word, slogan, design, symbol or other unique specification that identifies a product or organisation. Trademark can be represented by the 'R in a circle' ® denoting a registered trademark, or the letters 'TM'. To add weight to a claim, trademarks can also be registered at a national or territory level with an appointed government body. Trademark applications typically take anywhere between 6 and 18 months to be processed.

He also explained about the patents. Patents are grants made by national governments that give the creator of an invention an exclusive right to use, sell or manufacture the invention. Like trademarks, patents are registered at a national or territory level with an appointed government body. Patents typically take 2 to 3 years to be granted. The discussion with the participants gave lot of insight about trade marks and how it protects the rights of the owner of the trade marks.
