On 26th April 2023, an expert talk on "EXPERT TALK ON PROTOTYPE DEVELOPMENT" was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of IT. The session was handled by Mrs.Jainul Fathima, AP/IT, Francis Xavier Engineering College. 55 students from First year IT and 2 faculties of IT department participated in the program. The program was coordinated by Mrs. M. Yasmin Nirosha, Assistant professor, Department of IT from 2.00 – 4.00 P.M
The seminar aimed to provide insight into the practical aspects of developing prototypes and the challenges associated with it. The speaker started her talk by introducing the concept of a prototype and its importance in product development. She highlighted that prototypes are essential for identifying design flaws, testing functionality, and receiving feedback from stakeholders. The speaker emphasized the significance of developing a prototype early in the design process to ensure the product's success. She discussed various types of prototypes, including breadboard prototypes, alpha prototypes, beta prototypes, and production prototypes. She also highlighted the differences between them and when each prototype is best used in the product development process. Guest speaker shared several critical factors to consider when developing a prototype, including the material selection, manufacturing process, cost, and time-to-market. She emphasized the importance of balancing these factors to ensure the success of the product.
She also discussed the challenges associated with developing prototypes, including the need for specialized equipment, difficulties in replicating the design, and the cost associated with the development process. She provided suggestions on how to overcome these challenges, such as using 3D printing technology and collaborating with experts in the field. In conclusion, the seminar provided valuable insights into the practical aspects of prototype development. Overall, the seminar was informative and insightful, providing attendees with the knowledge necessary to develop successful prototypes.
