On 17th August, 2023, an “Expert Talk on Prototype Validation and its Importance” was organized by Entrepreneurship Development Cell & Institution’s Innovation Council in association with the Department of Mechanical Engineering from 09:30 am to 12.30 pm. Mr.R.Rahesh, AP/Mech, FXEC was the resource person. Dr.R.K.A.Bhalaji, AP/MECH coordinated the program.
Resource person explained the concept of prototype and the validation process. He gave few live examples for prototype and explain why the prototype needs to be developed. He highlighted the purpose of validating the prototype such as resolving the design flaws, improving the functionality and providing insights into user’s behaviour and preferences etc. He also stated that it should occur iteratively throughout the design and development process. It includes sketching, wireframes, high-fidelity prototypes and code prototypes. Resource person explored various methods for validating prototypes including user testing, A/B testing and expert evaluation. He emphasized the importance of selecting the appropriate validation method based on the specific goals and characteristics of the prototype.
Resource person acknowledged the potential challenges in prototype validation such as time management, resource allocation, objectivity and communication. To overcome these challenges, he suggested involving diverse stakeholders, using realistic scenarios and iterating on prototypes based on feedback. Finally the expert talk concluded with real time examples from industries like product design, software development and healthcare. The participants gathered lot of information from the resource person. For most of the participants the session was an eye opening one
