FXEC Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized a Faculty Development programme on the topic Electric Vehicle on 14th March 2023. Dr.C.Ponmani, Professor/EEE/Government College of Engineering was the resource person. Mrs.R.Aandal, AP/EEE delivered the Inaugural address and Mr.S.Selvakumar AP/EEE introduced the resource person. Electric Vehicle. The speaker explained that Electric Vehicles play a vital role in combating climate change across the globe by helping to cut down the emissions and reducing dependence on fossil fuels. This article throws light on the different types of electric vehicles, environmental advantages, various initiatives of the Government and the future impact of electric vehicles on employment and economy and further added that aspiring civil servants need to stay updated with the latest advancements in the field of science and technology.
She explained that the Electric Vehicle (EV) is one that operates on an electric motor, instead of an internal-combustion engine that generates power by burning a mix of fuel and gasses and it include, road and rail vehicles, surface and underwater vessels, electric aircraft and electric spacecraft. An electric vehicle may be powered through a collector system by electricity from off-vehicle sources, or may be self-contained with a battery, solar panels, fuel cells or an electric generator to convert fuel to electricity. The resource person also listed 8 different types of Electric Vehicles as Plug-in Electric Vehicle, On- and Off-road Electric Vehicles, Space Rover Vehicles, Seaborne Electric Vehicles, Airborne Electric Vehicles, Electrically Powered Spacecraft, Range-extended electric vehicle and Railborne Electric Vehicles. The program came to an end with a vote of thanks by Dr. R. Ravi, HOD/EEE, FXEC who is the convener of the program. This event was conducted under the guidance of Dr.Mohamed Sadiq, Dean, School of Computing, SCAD Group of Institutions.
