The Department of Management Studies in association with Training and Skill Development organized a foundation skills training program for I year MBA students from September 11, 2023, to September 19, 2023. The training was given by Ms. Deepa Lakshmi, Interpersonal trainer. The objective of the training is to provide participants with essential skills for personal and professional growth. The resource person covered various topics intended to elevate the students' competencies. On day 1, the training began with an engaging ice-breaking session. Students participated in various team-building activities, such as trust falls, name games, and problem-solving exercises. These activities helped students get to know each other better and to build initial bonds within the group and also conducted workshops on verbal and non-verbal communication, active listening, and the art of constructive feedback. On day 2, students learned the importance of crafting impactful self-introductions and practiced introducing themselves confidently, highlighting their strengths and experiences. The trainer guided students in setting SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals and asked them to identify their short-term and long-term objectives and to create action plans to achieve them. On day 3, the resource person discussed in detail about the techniques and strategies in Leadership skills, time management, and creativity which are essential for effective management and innovation and students were engaged in team-building activities that emphasized collaboration, trust and problem-solving and learned how to work together efficiently and leverage the strengths of team members. On day 4, the trainer conducted mock group discussions, providing feedback on participants' communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills and students gained confidence in expressing their views effectively. Students were also given training on presentation skills which focused on techniques for delivering compelling presentations by using visual aids and managing stage fright. They practiced presenting on various topics and received constructive feedback. On day 5, students underwent training on body language, gestures and their impact on interpersonal interactions, interview skills and resume building. Students learned how to prepare for interviews, answer common interview questions, and create impressive resumes. Mock interviews were conducted to provide hands-on experience. Over all the training equipped the students with essential skills and knowledge that will serve as a strong foundation for their personal and professional development.
