On 28.07.2023 an expert talk on "Funding Opportunities for Emerging Entrepreneurs" was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell of Management Studies department and IIC through offline mode. The session was handled by Mr.P.Selvakumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Studies, Francis Xavier Engineering College, Tirunelveli from 09.30 AM- 04.30 PM. 42 students and one faculty participated in the program.

The program started with the welcome address by Dr.V.M.Sangeetha, EDC coordinator of Management Studies, Francis Xavier Engineering College. In her speech, she highlighted the prominent role of EDC in association with IIC in enriching entrepreneurial skills to students’ community. The resource person started the session by explaining the various funding opportunities Venture Capital and Angel funding which helps the startup founders to mobilize the necessary funds. While explaining the Venture Capital and Angel funding, he gave few examples and the success stories of those who received venture capital fund. He also gave detailed explanation about the various government funding opportunities. After giving clear insights about funding concept, he raised the question called “Why funding is required for startups. Students were started answering and after getting answers from students he started explaining the importance of funding in startup activities with real startups illustrations.

In the afternoon session he started the session with quiz related to funding and stages of startup activities in order to understand the listening power of the students. After that he continued his session by explaining the types of startup funding such as Working Capital, Equity Financing, Debt Financing and Grants. Then he discussed about the sources of funding and from ideation to exit options of startups. The programme came to an end with students’ feedback and Vote of thanks.
