On 27.2.2023 a session on “Government Funding Opportunities to Develop Startup” was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of IT. The session was handled by Dr. Jainul Fathima, Asst Prof, Department of Information Technology, Francis Xavier Engineering College. 64 students from II year IT department and 1 faculty member participated in the program. The program was coordinated by Dr. L.Gandhimathi, Assistant professor, Francis Xavier Engineering College from 2 PM - 4.00 PM.
The program aimed to educate students about the various government schemes available to support the businesses and to provide financial assistance. The resource person explained the various government schemes and their significance in promoting startups. She also highlighted the need for entrepreneurs to stay updated on the latest government schemes to make use of the same. Some of the government schemes discussed during the program were Make in India, Startup India etc,. She also explained the eligibility criteria and benefits of the Startup India scheme and said that the scheme provides funding, mentoring, and networking opportunities to startups. The resource person explained the different categories of loans available under the scheme and the eligibility criteria. She also discussed the Stand-Up India scheme, which aims to promote entrepreneurship among women and marginalized sections of society, and MSME Schemes available for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). She also inspired the students with motivating stories of Indian startupreneurs. The session was an interactive one and gathered lot of information relating to the various funding schemes from the resource person.
