Government Funding Opportunities to Develop Startup

On 28.3.2023 an awareness program on “Government Funding Opportunities to Develop Startup” was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of AI&DS. The session was handled by Mrs. M. Thana Lakshmi AP/MBA, Francis Xavier Engineering college. 64 students from second year AI&DS and one faculty member of AI&DS department participated in the program. The program was coordinated by Mrs. P. Sooriabrabha, Assistant professor, Department of AI&DS from 200.PM - 4.00PM.

The awareness program started with the introduction by Mrs.P.Sooriabrabha, Assistant professor, Department of AI&DS. In this session resource person discussed about MSME and government funds for startup. She listed few government schemes such as Startup India, Startup TN, PMEGP, UYEGP, NEEDS, PMFME and Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana. She also explained the financial assistance provided through each of the supporting schemes. While explaining the various schemes, she gave information about the procedures to be fulfilled at the time of applying for the assistance under the scheme. In addition to this she also highlighted the role played by Tamil Nadu Startup and Innovation Mission (TANSIM) for the promotion of startups. She highlighted the competitions organised under the banner of Startup TN which aims at promoting the startups among the college students and product innovators. The participants raised questions about the process of startup development and all the queries were clarified by the resource person. In fact, the session was an eye opener for most of the participants and gathered more information about the various assistance provided by the government for the development of startups.
