A guest lecture on “Current Trends in Network Technology and Communication Technology” was given to the first year students of MCA. Mrs, Anu Rakhi, Assistant Professor, Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science delivered lecture to the students on 11th November 2025 from 3.00PM to 4.00 PM who provided a comprehensive overview of the evolving landscape of modern networking. The speaker expertly demystified complex concepts, highlighting several pivotal trends which included, moving beyond initial 5G deployments, the focus is now on 5G-Advanced, enhancing network intelligence, energy efficiency, and support for massive IoT. The speaker also provided a visionary glimpse into 6G, discussing its potential for integrating sensing with communication and achieving global coverage. The lecture clarified the shift from centralized cloud computing to edge computing. By processing data closer to its source, this trend reduces latency for real-time applications like autonomous vehicles and smart factories, fundamentally changing network architecture. The session was highly interactive, with the speaker addressing queries about real-world applications in networking, and advancements in telecommunication systems. The lecture was an immense success, offering students a clear and forward-looking perspective on the technologies shaping our connected world
