The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized a Guest Lecture on Unlocking Insights: The role of Data Analyst in today’s digital era. A session for third-year students was conducted on August 21, 2025. 51 students and 1 faculties participated. The event featured by Mr.S.Jude Issac Benjamin ,Data Analyst, Carelon Global Solutions ,Bangalore as the resource person. This event was coordinated by Mr.M.SathyaAP/CSE The Session aiming to highlight the growing importance of data in shaping industries and careers. In the current digital-driven world, data is often referred to as the “new oil,” and organizations increasingly rely on it for decision-making in sectors like healthcare, finance, e-commerce, education, and governance. The speaker explained the vital role of a Data Analyst, who is responsible for collecting, cleaning, and organizing datasets, applying statistical methods, using visualization tools, and presenting insights to support evidence-based business strategies. Students were introduced to essential tools and skills such as SQL, Python, R, Excel, Tableau, Power BI, and communication through data storytelling. The seminar also discussed wide career opportunities, including roles like Business Analyst, Product Analyst, and Data Visualization Specialist, as well as the future scope of analytics with Artificial Intelligence, IoT, and cloud-based real-time processing, along with the importance of data ethics and privacy. The key takeaway for students was the realization that data literacy has become a core competency in the digital economy, and acquiring analytical and technical skills can unlock significant career growth. Overall, the seminar emphasized that Data Analysts act as a bridge between raw data and meaningful insights, playing an indispensable role in today’s digital era, and inspired participants to explore this fast-growing and dynamic field.
