Guest Lecture on Vision to Venture: Nurturing Entrepreneurial Skills

On 27.12.2023 Guest Lecture on “Vision to Venture: Nurturing Entrepreneurship Skills” was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell of the Management Studies Department and IIC. The resource person was Mr. P.Selvakumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Studies, Francis Xavier Engineering College, Vannarpettai. The session was coordinated by Dr.V.M.Sangeetha, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Studies, Francis Xavier Engineering College, Vannarpettai from 09.30 AM- 12.30 PM on 27.12.23. 40 students and one faculty member participated.

The program coordinator welcomed the resource person and introduced the guest speaker. Resource person started the session with the short introduction of Entrepreneurship. He continued the session by posting the question, “How many of you are interested to become entrepreneurs?” Nearly 10 students raised their hands and showed their interest. Then he asked remaining students to give their career goals and the reason for not opting entrepreneurial career. Students gave few reasons such as fear of risk, financial problem, problems in investment and so on. He continued his session by presenting the vision drafting and the importance of vision formulation. He asked students to formulate vision and called few students to present their vision.

He then presented the skills which are required to practice entrepreneurship and to think critically to solve the problems like Adaptability and Flexibility Networking and Relationship building. He also presented the efforts of G20 nations in bridging the skill gaps and skill development and entrepreneurship. After the tea break, she gave few activities to explain entrepreneurship skill in a better way. Students were excited to do the activities. She also shared some inspirational success stories of entrepreneurs such as Myharvest Farms owner Ms.Arachan, Oriental cuisine Pvt Ltd chairman Mr.M.Mahadevan, Chai sutta Bar owners Anubhav Dubey and Anand Nayak. Then she clarified the doubts of the students in vision formulation and skill development. She appreciated and thank the students for the active participation and interaction. The session concluded with the vote of thanks.
