On 16.06.2022 a Guest Talk was conducted by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and Institution lnnovation Council in association with the Department of Computer Applications on the topic "Venture Capital Funding Opportunities for Early Stage Entrepreneurs”. The session was handled by Mrs. Angeline Ranjithamani, HOD/MCA, Francis Xavier Engineering, Tirunelveli from 3.00pm - 4.00pm. The Guest Talk was organized for the MCA staff and students.
The resource person explained the meaning of venture capital fund, the functioning of venture capital firms and their role in providing necessary capital for the development of startups. Venture Capital funding opportunities available for Early Stage Entrepreneurs and she focused when the venture capital fund can be utilized effectively during the startup stage and the obligations to be fulfilled by the startups while mobilizing the necessary finance through venture capital firms. The speaker also explained the various types of venture capital funds and the features of each of the venture capital financing.
The speaker also explained the five stages of venture capital funding such as stage 1: Seed capital, stage 2: Startup capital, Stage 3: Early stage/first stage/second stage capital, Stage 4: Expansion stage/second stage/third stage capital, Stage 5: Mezzanine/bridge/pre-public stage. She gave examples for the active Venture Capital Firms in India for Early Stage Startups like SEQUOIA CAPITAL, NEXUS VENTURE PARTNERS, KALAARI CAPITAL, CHIRATAE VENTURES, VENTURE EAST, SAIF PARTNERS and MATRIX PARTNERS etc. 40 students and 2 faculties actively participated in the session. All the students were benefited by the talk. The interaction between the students and the resource person was highly motivated.
