On 11th Nov.2022 a guest lecture was organized to commemorate the National Education Day on the topic “Higher Education: The Present Day Scenario” by Entrepreneur Development cell in association with Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Dr.A.Justin Diraviam ,Professor/EEE was the Guest Lecturer. This event was coordinated by Mrs. A.Amala Manuela, Assitant Professor/EEE 50 students and 1 staff member participated in the program.

The speaker explained the present day scenario in Higher education and the advantages to the students. While explaining the present day national education system, the speaker explained the National Education Policy. Now-a-days, there is mass production of graduates and post-graduates. They are only fit for clerical jobs. When they do not get service, they aggravate the problem of educated unemployment. This situation should be properly addressed by opening more and more technical and vocational institutions. The speaker said that at present there is no arrangement for moral and religious education for the young men and women who come to the universities. There are many basic problems facing higher education in India today such as inadequate infrastructure, vacancies in faculty positions and poor quality of faculty, declining research standards, etc. Ensuring equitable access to quality higher education for students coming from poor families is a major challenge. Students from poor back ground are put to further disadvantage since they are not academically prepared to crack highly competitive entrance examinations that have bias towards urban elite and rich students. The session was very much interesting and gave lot of information. In fact, all the participants interacted with the resource person.
