From 6.2.2024 to 10.2.2024 Management Development Program on “Business Development Plan for Micro Small Medium Enterprise” was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell of the Management Studies department and IIC of Francis Xavier Engineering College in association with Branch MSME-DFO Government of India, Ministry o MSME ,Tirunelveli through offline mode. 40 Micro entrepreneurs from nearby areas participated in the program. The resource persons were Industrialists and Academician. The program was coordinated by Dr.V.M.Sangeetha, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Studies, Francis Xavier Engineering College, Vannarpettai from From 6.2.2024 to 10.2.2024 between 10.00 am to 5.00 pm. 40 participants participated.
In the inaugural session after the welcome address, the principal of the college and EDC Director and IIC president highlighted the significant role of college in promoting entrepreneurship to the students community during their presidential address and facilitation address. First session started after the inaugural session and the resource person was Mr.Mohammed Riaz, Business Coach, Action COACH Global. He delivered his speech on the title “Developing a positive workplace culture in small business”. He started his speech by telling his experience in starting his own venture and the opportunities in his locality to start the business. Then he continued his speech by listing attributes essential to develop a positive workplace culture like Integrity, Treating people in the work area, dedication, commitment and involvement by real time examples. After the lunch break, second session was started by the resource person Mr.P.Selvakumar Assistant Professor/Management Studies of Francis Xavier Engineering College. on the title “ Product Selection for starting a business”. In his session, he highlighted Market Research, Competitor analysis, Trends and innovation in order to identify the product selection. After the tea Break, Mr.Sadaiappan Startup owner and mentor delivered Business Plan Preparation . In his speech he addressed various elements in preparing business plan such as goals, analysis, work strategy, competitor, operations and marketing, SWOT, Mission, Financial, Timeline and Product Description. Then he segmented the participants and clubbed into teams based on their venture. He asked the participants to develop the business plan and participants presented their business plan.
In the second day, Mr.Selvakumar Assistant Professor/Management Studies of Francis Xavier Engineering College. started the session and delivered his speech on “Trade fairs as a platform for marketing. In his presentation he explained about marketing, how to balance emotions, trust and status in the business. He also explained about trade fairs and various types of trade fairs. After the tea break, He asked participants to exhibit their business by considering this platform as trade fair. Participants showcased their ideas and the resource person gave suggestions based on their presentations. After the lunch break, Customer Relationship Management was handled by Mrs.M.Thanalkshmi. Assistant Professor/Management Studies of Francis Xavier Engineering College. She explained about the concept of customer, role of customer management, objectives of customer relationship management, key components of CRM such as customer data management, Sales Automation, Marketing Automation, Customer Service and analytics. She explained how to build customer relationship. She randomly chosen few participants and made them to share their experience in maintaining customers. After the tea break, Market Analysis and Research for SMEs was handled by Dr.V.M.Sangeetha. Assistant Professor/Management Studies of Francis Xavier Engineering College. She started her session by explaining the companies who failed in their business due to poor market analysis and research. She continued her session by explaining the importance of doing market research. She presented the components of market analysis such as customer analysis, demand analysis, competitor analysis, market trend analysis, risk analysis, marketing and advertising analysis. The session day session was concluded with clarification of doubts of participants.
The Third day session was started by Mrs.J Evangeline Kiruba Assistant Professor/Management Studies of Francis Xavier Engineering College. on the title E-Commerce. She started her session by posting a question that how many of the participants were doing business by making of e-commerce modes and very few were replied yes. Then she started explaining about what is e-commerce, various forms of e-commerce. She continued her session by presenting the challenges in this mode and how to do money transaction. She also added the safest e-transaction. After the tea break, Mrs.M.Thanalkshmi Assistant Professor/Management Studies of Francis Xavier Engineering College. gave insights in the area “ Access to funding for MSME by bankers. She explained about the MSME Loan schemes by Banks. She also explained interest rates for various schemes of banks. For opting the loan what are the requisites was also presented by her. Top banks schemes related to MSME and their interest rate also presented. After the lunch break, the session was handled by Mr.Kaja Mohideen Founder and CEO of Digicuz on the topic digital marketing for SMEs. He insisted the importance of digital marketing in promoting the business. He explained how marketing can be done for any product through digital mode. He also presented how the optimization was done in web pages to improve product sales. After the tea break, Introduction to Export Import Marketing was handled by Mr.P. Selva Sundarrajan, Aadhithya Training & Consultant. He started his presentation by telling about the basics of Import and Export. He continued his session by explaining the marketing techniques need to be handled during import and export of products with real time examples. The session ended with the vote of thanks.
The fourth day session started with the topic “Introduction to 7ps framework and importance of customer centric approach. It was handled by Dr.Jeshrun Bala Subramanian Associate Professor/Management Studies of Francis Xavier Engineering College. He started presenting the marketing framework such product, price, place, promotion, process, physical evidence, people. He asked the participants to design marketing framework for their products and all participants presented their framework. After the presentation of participants, resource person suggested few ideas to improve their business. In the afternoon session, Mr.Murugan, Branch Manager , TIIC delivered the lecture on the role of MSME on marketing support. He started his session by posting a question that how many of the participants were benefitted from the financial assistance of MSME. Only few participants got awareness and very few received financial benefits from MSME. Then he continued his session by listing various schemes of Government in supporting SMEs to commercialize their products. He also explained whom to approach, guidelines to avail benefits. Last session was about Sales Management via Distribution & Dealership and it was handled by Dr.V.M.Sangeetha Assistant Professor/Management Studies of Francis Xavier Engineering College. She gave insights about the essential skills to sell the product and criteria to choose distribution network by quoting real time examples. The session was ended after clarifying doubts of participants.
The fifth day of the management development program was started with the area of Financial Management for SMEs: Cash Flow into business and it was handled by Mrs. Annie Rose Nirmala Head of Management Studies department of Francis Xavier Engineering College. She divided participants into various groups and asked them to prepare financial plan, budget for their business. The she explained the importance of financial plan, how to predict risk, cash flow management. The next session was handled by Mrs.Jerina Bobby, Assistant Director, MSME on Procurement and Marketing Assistance. She explained fundamentals of procurement, various sources of procurements. She also gave insights about the role of MSME in assisting entrepreneurs in terms of procurement, market identification, market assistance and distribution. Final session was handled by Mr.Sanjay Gunasingh, Managing Director Bell Pins, Tirunelveli on the topic Brand creation. He started his session by giving the importance of brand of any business. He explained how brand selection can made and it has its effect on sales. He presented lot of strategies to choose and popularize brand of the business. The five days program was ended with valedictory session and vote of thanks. The participants gave feedback about the program. The interaction between the participants and the resource person was highly motivating to all the Participants.
