On 11.11.2024 a session was organized on the title “ National Education Day 2024: Inspiring Change Through Education” by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Electronics and Communication Engineering department. The session was handled by Dr G Rajakumar, Controller of Examination, IIC Vice President, Professor, Francis Xavier Engineering College. 58 students and 2 faculties participated in the program. This event was coordinated by Dr. R Prem Ananth, IIC Convener, IIC Innovation Ambassador for "Design thinking & Innovations", Assistant professor, Francis Xavier Engineering College.
The guest speaker said National Education Day was celebrated to recognise the legacy of India’s first Education Minister, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, and celebrate the transformative power of education. The guest speaker shed light on Azad’s pivotal contributions, including his instrumental role in establishing the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the University Grants Commission (UGC), both of which have become foundational pillars in India’s higher education system. Through these institutions, Azad laid the groundwork for nurturing scientific inquiry, technological advancement, and educational equity in post-independence India.
The speaker further emphasized the critical role of education in advancing India from a developing to a developed nation, underscoring that quality education remains essential for fostering a skilled and knowledgeable population capable of driving national progress. Education, the speaker noted, is the cornerstone for innovation and entrepreneurship, enabling young minds to identify and solve real-world problems, ultimately contributing to economic growth and social welfare. By prioritizing education that encourages critical thinking and problem-solving, India can cultivate a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, ensuring the country’s continued advancement on the global stage. The session concluded with a call to action, encouraging students, educators, and policymakers to work together to make education a powerful catalyst for national development and prosperity.
