Orientation on Entrepreneurship: A Career Choice

On 11.09.2023 an Orientation on “Entrepreneurship: A Career Choice” was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell of Management Studies department and IIC. The session was handled by Dr.V.M.Sangeetha, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Studies, Francis Xavier Engineering College, Vannarpettai from 01.30 PM- 4.30 PM on 11.9.23. 60 students and one faculty participated.

The program started with the welcome address by Mr.P.Selvakumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Studies, Francis Xavier Engineering College. He started welcome address by highlighted the initiatives of Entrepreneurship Development Cell of Management Studies department in association with IIC in the enrichment of entrepreneurial skills among student community.

To get the attention of the students, the resource person started her session by posting few questions related to entrepreneurship. She continued her presentation by sharing the success stories of few Indian entrepreneurs who were the pioneers of the respective domains. Then she moved the session by asking the question “why people become entrepreneurs?”. Students gave some interesting answers. By acknowledging the answers, she started explaining the importance of entrepreneurship in the career. The attributes like career growth, independent, flexible working hours, grow economically, scope to explore are the key reasons. She continued her speech, by listing the challenges of being an employee in an organization.

The students were given awareness about the concept of startup and the process of developing the startup in Tirunelveli. Finally, the resource person concluded the session by appreciating students for their active involvement in the discussion and answering the questions raised by the resource person.
