Report for the session on Emerging Trends in Digital Entrepreneurship

On 18.11.2022 a session on “Emerging Trends in Digital Entrepreneurship” was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the department of CIVIL. The session was handled Dr. M. Kohila, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Francis Xavier Engineering College, Tirunelveli. The students from second year CIVIL and faculties participated in the program. The program was coordinated by Mrs. P.Raja Priya, EDC Coordinator, Assistant professor, department of CIVIL, Francis Xavier Engineering College from 09.00 AM - 12.30 PM. 48 civil engineering students and 2 faculties participated in the session.

The speaker explained the introduction of 5G technology and said that digital era is reducing the barriers between entrepreneur and society. The digital era is creating new avenues for entrepreneurial opportunities. She said that the Digital entrepreneurship is a term that describes how digital technology will change a business and society. She explained the different stages in digital entrepreneurship such as choosing a digital business idea, building a prototype, testing the business idea on potential customers and launching the business. The resource person gave few success stories of successful digital entrepreneurs namely Ritesh Agarwal - OYO rooms, Vijaysekar Sharma - Paytm, and Shravan and Sanjay kumaran – Godimensions. The speaker also highlighted some of the important technologies involved in digital marketing such as Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), Search Engine Marketing (SEM) and Social Media Marketing (SMM). The discussion evoked good response from the participants and few participants raised questions about the use of search engine and its uses for the business.
