On 28th April 2023, Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of Civil Engineering organized a session on “Sharing of entrepreneurial Experience in Construction Industry” under the activity code ACT/22-23/01460. Er. Ram Aravind, Founder of RM Group, RMK Builders, Nirmala Conveyance, Tirunelveli was the resource person. A total of 40 II year civil engineering students participated in the program. The session was coordinated by Mrs. P. Raja Priya, AP/Civil. The speaker started with the statement that “Construction industry is a sector where a lot of business opportunities can be created if the knowledge of entrepreneurship becomes widespread”. He explained that starting a new construction business is still a challengeable issue. He enumerated that entrepreneurs need to have a solid understanding of financial management, marketing, operations, and human resources to run a successful construction business. Developing skills in these areas can help businesses become more competitive, increase profits, and improve efficiency. THe resource person insisted that effective communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills are also critical for success in this area and further added that entrepreneurs in the construction industry need to be able to identify opportunities for innovation and develop new products or services that meet the changing needs of their customers. This could include adopting new technology, using new materials, or developing new construction techniques. Entrepreneurs in the construction industry need to be able to assess and manage risk effectively. The program came to an end with a feedback session.
