Session on Transforming Ideas into Startups

On 20th September, 2022 an online session was organized on the topic “Transforming Ideas into Startups” by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and Institution’s Innovation Council in association with Civil Engineering Department. The speaker for the program was Mr. Kandasamy, Research Scholar, Department of Civil Engineering, Saveetha School of Engineering, Chennai.

The speaker started the session giving an outline of what is an idea and what is a startup?. He explained about the process of identifying the potential ideas, developing the PoC for the identified ideas and to develop the prototype for same. He then explained how the prototype can be tested to check the feasibility of the same to go far commercial production. The speaker explained the difficulties to overcome during this stage. He highlighted the market survey and testing to be done before introducing the product in the market.

The speaker gave a detailed note on the startup process which indicates idea generation, developing business model, resourcing, promotion, actualization and harvesting. The role and importance of startup in economic development was also clearly explained by him. As the listeners belongs to Civil Engineering department he explained the startup opportunities in solid waste recycling and how the waste can be converted to wealth. 41 students and 2 faculty members attended the program.
