On 28th April 2023, Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with Department of Civil Engineering organized a session on “Sharing of Entrepreneurial Experience in Construction Industry”. The resource person for the program was Er. Ram Aravind, Founder of RM Group, RMK Builders, Nirmala Conveyance, Tirunelveli. 40 II year civil engineering students and 1 faculty member participated in the program. The session was coordinated by Mrs. P. Raja Priya, Assistant Professor, Department of civil engineering, FXEC.
The speaker started with the statement that “Construction industry is a sector where lot of business opportunities can be created if the knowledge of entrepreneurship become wide spread”. But starting a new construction business is still a challengeable issue. Entrepreneurs need to have a solid understanding of financial management, marketing, operations, and human resources to run a successful construction business. Developing skills in these areas can help businesses become more competitive, increase profits, and improve efficiency. Effective communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills are also critical for success in this area. Entrepreneurs in the construction industry need to be able to identify opportunities for innovation and develop new products or services that meet the changing needs of their customers. This could include adopting new technology, using new materials, or developing new construction techniques. Entrepreneurs in the construction industry need to be able to assess and manage risk effectively. The participants clarified their doubts and gained lot of information from the guest speaker. Infact, the session was an eye opener for all the participants.
